The drive from Towne Lake is two miles and one light.

Towne Lake sits between Fry Rd and Barker Cypress, and the studio sits 2 miles north of it on the same road. Off-peak that is 5 minutes, one traffic light, no freeway. The light is Queenston Blvd, and if you can see the Walgreens at 11803 you have gone exactly far enough.

Every minute figure on this page is a free-flow number with no traffic in it. Between about 4:30 and 6 PM on a weekday, add a quarter to a half again — not because Barker Cypress itself backs up badly, but because everything feeding it off the US-290 frontage does.

Finding Suite D from the north end of Towne Lake

The building is a single-story strip center with suites lettered A through K, and the numbers on the doors are small. Three things make it obvious from the road: the Shell and the Chevron on the corner, the Jack in the Box at 11833, and the Walgreens directly opposite. We are on the east side of Barker Cypress.

  1. Take Barker Cypress north from Towne Lake, past Cypress North Houston Rd, and stay in the right lane.
  2. At the Queenston Blvd light the strip center is on your right, about 400 feet up. Do not carry on to the 290 feeder — if you reach it you have overshot by 0.36 miles.
  3. Park anywhere in front. Suite D sits between One Spa in Ste A and the martial arts school in Ste E. Parking is free, at the door, with no garage, no gate and nothing to validate.

What the hour costs here, and what it costs in Towne Lake's own retail center.

Heights Wellness Retreat is at 9935 Barker Cypress Rd, Ste 135, inside the retail node most Towne Lake residents already drive through. It publishes $79.99 for 60 minutes as a first-time-guest rate, with membership at $79.99 to $99.99 a month on a 3, 6 or 12 month contract. We are $70, for everybody, every day.

We are not the cheapest hour in the Cypress area and this page is not going to claim it. Cloud 9 Foot Spa publishes a $65 Swedish hour, five dollars under ours. What $70 buys here is a number that does not move: no first-visit rate that expires, no member column, nothing to sign before you get on the table.

Every figure in that table was read off each business's own published pricing page in September 2026. Chain rates change, and the low number a chain advertises is almost always a first-visit rate rather than what you pay in March. Check theirs before you decide anything.

Heritage at Towne Lake and the clients who are over 55.

Close-up of two hands cupping a client's neck and shoulder, hair tied up, a linen drape across the back

Massage for somebody in their seventies is not a different massage, but it is a different conversation. The community keeps a 55+ active-adult section, so a real share of the people driving 2 miles up Barker Cypress are past that line, and pretending everyone on the table is thirty-four helps nobody. Pressure comes down. Positioning gets checked more carefully. A 45 minute session at $60 often beats the 120 minute at $140.

Research is honest about what this does and does not do. A 2014 trial of 228 people with chronic neck pain found 30 minute sessions were no better than a wait list, while 60 minute massages two or three times a week roughly tripled the odds of a meaningful improvement. Read as a booking rule, that says one short session is unlikely to shift a long-standing problem.

Tell us these four things before you get on the table

None of them stop us seeing you. They change what the hour looks like, and a therapist who finds out at minute forty has already spent forty minutes guessing. Say it at the desk, or text it ahead to (713) 875-9198 so it sits on the booking before you arrive.

  • Blood thinners, recent surgery, or anything a doctor is currently managing.
  • Where the pressure should be lighter, and where you actually want it firm.
  • Any area you would rather we skipped — feet and stomach are the usual two.
  • Whether lying face down is comfortable. It is not for everyone, and side-lying works.

Late evenings, and the Sunday nobody thinks to ask about.

Two therapists working the shoulders of two clients lying on side-by-side massage tables beside a sunlit window

We close at 8 PM, seven days a week, and that is the practical reason a Towne Lake weeknight booking works at all. Heights Wellness Retreat runs to 9 PM Monday through Friday, so on a Tuesday they are open later than we are. On Saturday they stop at 7 PM and on Sunday at 6 PM. Hand and Stone on Spring Cypress goes to 10 PM on weekdays.

The reason any of that matters is the commute. The mean one-way commute in ZIP 77433 is 36.1 minutes; 34.7 percent of commuters travel 45 minutes or more each way, and 15.2 percent are gone an hour or more. Somebody leaving the Energy Corridor at 5 PM is not making a 6 PM appointment, and both of us know it.

The weekend pattern is a different animal. Towne Lake residents take a boat across the 300 acre lake to the Boardwalk for dinner — 14 miles of shoreline, lakeside dining, a Trader Joe's, live music — and the massage gets booked either side of that. Late morning before the heat, or 7 PM after. The Boardwalk is 3 miles and 7 minutes from the door with no traffic on the road.

The Cypress calendar and when Towne Lake books a table.

Three things move this business here, and none of them is a promotion. Heat: July averages 93 degrees and the overnight low sits at 75 to 77, so August plans move indoors. Pollen: live oak dominates March and ragweed runs mid-August into November. And the Cy-Fair ISD calendar, which the 52.1 percent of households here with kids under 18 run their year on.

To be clear about what a massage does with any of that: nothing medical. Texas law puts the diagnosis and treatment of illness outside a massage therapist's scope, and we are not going to tell you an hour on the table clears a pollen season. Many people find it helps them sleep and feel calmer afterwards. That is the honest version, and it is the only one we are allowed to give you.

Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and it does affect appointments. When Beryl came ashore on July 8, 2024, more than 2.7 million Texas customers lost power, and this corner of Barker Cypress went dark along with Towne Lake and everyone else. If there is a storm in the Gulf, call before you drive over — (713) 875-9198 takes calls and texts on the same line.

— Questions

Asked & answered.

How far is Lulu Massage & Spa from Towne Lake?

About 2 miles, straight up Barker Cypress Rd, and 5 minutes with no traffic on the road. The Boardwalk at Towne Lake is nearer 3 miles and 7 minutes. Both of those are free-flow figures; between 4:30 and 6 PM on a weekday, add a quarter to a half again. There is one light between you and the door, at Queenston Blvd.

How much is a 60 minute massage near Towne Lake?

At Lulu it is $70 for 60 minutes, $100 for 90 and $140 for 120. Shorter sessions are $50 for 30 minutes and $60 for 45. That is the price for everybody — no membership, no contract and no first-visit rate, so the number does not change on your second booking. Foot reflexology for 60 minutes is $60. The full menu is here.

Is Lulu cheaper than Heights Wellness Retreat on Barker Cypress?

For a 60 minute massage, yes, by about ten dollars: $70 against their published $79.99 first-time-guest rate, and with no membership sitting behind ours. But we are not the cheapest hour in the Cypress area and will not say we are — Cloud 9 Foot Spa publishes a $65 Swedish hour. Both figures came off the businesses' own pricing pages in September 2026.

Can I get an appointment on a Sunday evening?

We are open every day from 10 AM to 8 PM, Sunday included, and the last hour on a Sunday is usually the easiest slot of the week to get. Heights Wellness Retreat closes at 6 PM on Sunday and Massage Envy Cypress at 6 PM as well. Late evenings are set out here, or call (713) 875-9198 and we will tell you what is open today.

Do you have a membership or a monthly package?

No. There is no membership, no monthly fee, no contract and no punch card here, which is deliberate rather than an oversight. The chains up and down Barker Cypress use a monthly model — Heights Wellness Retreat publishes $79.99 to $99.99 a month on a 3, 6 or 12 month contract. Ours is $70 an hour, paid when you come in, and nothing carries over.

My parent lives in Heritage at Towne Lake and is in their seventies. Is massage a good idea?

Often, with two caveats. NCCIH describes the risk of harm from massage as appearing to be low, with the rare serious problems clustering around vigorous work and people already prone to injury. So tell us about blood thinners, recent surgery, osteoporosis or fragile skin, and we will work lighter. If a doctor is managing something specific, ask them first. We do not diagnose or treat anything.
